That's what friends are for

Image
Today, I would be doing a post on my view of friendships. Friendships; This simple relationship with our friends holds many different meanings to different people. For me, it could easily be concluded by simply wanting the best for our friends. Yet again, many hold different conceptions on this. For some, it would mean going along with the friend's wishes and demands in order to have him/her happy. However, that would be entirely opposite in my stand. Though I might sometimes follow their demands and say things that make them happy, I still put on a strong stand on doing the right thing. The first thing I would do would be to analyse the entire situation before making a move. Let me give you an example which we would come across in our everyday lives... EXAMPLE A: Say, I have this friend whom I have known for quite some time and I know most of his flaws; often getting pissed off by them. I do not hide the flaws from him. I would let him know it in his face...

Another chapter unfolds..

Today was the official opening of school. As you all know, I have moved onto another chapter of my life. I am currently pursuing my diploma in Hotel & Leisure Facilities Management (DHLFM) in Singapore Polytechnic. Though it might be one of my top few choice, I told myself that I am going to make the best out of what I have gotten. From what I have observed, the students in polyclinics are much different from secondary schools; The way they behave, the way they see things. Before I entered the school, I have already heard much about the friends that I would be mixing with. You know, the usual stuff.. "Two-sided friends"; Those friends whom you would be talking to a lot and think that they are really nice yet they could be completely different behind your back. "Hi-bye to. Well, initially, I never thought of such stereotypes to be true. However, I have been seeing these, those friends whom you would bump into in school but never really have any chance to talk uch peop...

Ignorance.

What really saddens me is when at times we don't understand the importance of having foreign workers and treat them like animals. Whenever we walk pass a group of Bangladesh workers resting under the HDB blocks, the first impression of them would be thinking of them as low-class human beings. Meanwhile there would be stereotypes going around that Banglas would be commiting the crimes and it's dangerous to be around them. Recently, there has been a video circulating online. Apparently a group of students decide to do a project on the lives of the Bangladesh workers and interviewed them on their lives. After watching the video, a feeling of remourse surged through me. It was as though we have always taken those workers for granted. The truth is, those workers have no choice but to come over to Singapore to do hard labour in order to support their family back in Bangladesh. They live in such poor living conditions(8 men sharing one small room) and were paid ri...

Time doesn't wait for anyone.

Image
It has already been one year since my grandmother left me. She left me on 16 March 2011. Before leaving, she was already very sick. It was too late when my grandmother was diagnosed with gall bladder cancer. For a few weeks, my grandmother was suffering; She could remember nothing and neither could she recognise anyone. Simply heart-breaking to watch her suffering. That fateful day she left, I was present and had to call up my relatives and ask them to come down immediately. It was very sad too. I was brought up by my grandmother since young and her demise shook me hard. However, I'm glad I have already gone passed that stage. Though I might think of her at times, it doesn't bother me that much. Repeatedly reminding myself, I told myself that it was a relief for her and she has moved on to a better place. The process of recovery was worthy of remembrance. Time doesn't wait for anyone; Soon, we would all grow up and bear greater responsibilities. One of the responsibilities...

Going natural.

Image
Before I typed out this post, I was wondering if there would be anyone reading this post. After a long pause, I realized that it doesn't matter at all; Blogging is all about writing and expressing our own feelings. I have read many blog posts by other bloggers and I find nothing in common. My conclusion would be blogging doesn't necessarily need to be perfect nor having a topic to talk about. In order for blogging to be effective in helping users express their feelings, everything must come natural. Therefore, I have came to this decision; I shall go natural with every post on this blog from now onwards. Melaka Trip. ( 10 March - 13 March 2012 ) There has been nothing much going on lately. I just came back from Melaka this Monday and I must admit that everything went pretty smoothe and the entire getaway was pleasant until the last day when we were about to get back. That fateful morning as we approached our cars, we noticed something really shocking.... Apparently so...

Never Wallow in Self-Pity.

Image
In many points of my life, I found myself doing something which many of us often do; wallowing in self-pity. Thinking of the worse scenarios that could possibly happen, I sank into an endless pit of negative emotions. Once again, it happened today. This evening, I was approached by a man with tattoos all over his arms. Caught by surprise, I did not utter a single word. The man introduced himself as a ex-convict who has gone in and out of prison for more than 5 times. "My wife passed away, leaving me the burden of two young kids. Please support me by buying this keychain..", with these heart-wrenching words, he showed me a copy of his wife's death certificate. Upon seeing the death certificate, an ineffable feeling surged through me. I immediately got reminded of the time when I had to bring my grandmother's death certificate back to school. I can still vividly remember that experience to be terribly hurting. To be able to show everyone his loved one's death cert...

I have died every day waiting for you.
