Dear friends,

Sorry that I haven't been posting for a few days. I had been rather busy.
Anyway, I'm went to Suntec City just now.
I saw a book that was on NLP (Neuro-Linguistic Programming) , it costs $49.90.
Of course, as a student, I wasn't able to afford it.
I just browse it through.
After reading it through and found somethings that sounded very interesting to me.

I thought i should share it with you readers.
The part I'm going to share today is a small part on Building Rapport.

Building Rapport.

If you want to create rapport with someone, you must create it from the point of respect and genuine need to understand them and always seek win-win outcomes.
When you feel congruent with your outcomes, identity, values and beliefs, then your behavior will follow naturally.

Matching & Mirroring .

Have you ever watched two people communicating deeply?
If they are both fully engaged in the conversation, they will unconsciously copy each others body posture, movement, voice tone, pace and breathing.
Sometimes they do it exactly and other times they are mirror images of each other.
It's like dancing to a simple rhythm !

You can use this knowledge and do it deliberately to provide the foundation for building rapport with anyone you choose.
In NLP, it is called matching and mirroring.

Essentially, it works like this. People like people who are like them, so a sure way of building rapport with others is to be like them. You can build relationships and influence a wide variety of people by becoming consciously aware of what you do when you naturally have rapport.
Equally, when the rapport has been lost, you can take decisive action to rebuild it.

Things that you can usefully match includes:

  • Physiology
  • Voice
  • Language
Matching and mirroring take place at the behavioral level.

Think back to a time when you felt awkward building rapport and it just wasn't working, no matter what you do.
What was going on for you?
Was it anything to do with the mirroring and matching or was it more to do with what was going on inside your head?
Just by using the above list of things, how can you successfully create rapport with someone?

Let me leave this thought with you now...
Think about it.

This was some things that I've learnt today.
Hope you guys learnt something from it too ( :

(:
